The history of Mokarta estate began a long time ago.
Favuzza’s farm was created in 1916 and it has been managed with love and care by the homonymous family for many generations. The heir Paolo Favuzza and since 2005 his son Mario emanuele Favuzza have worked in this farm. Thanks to his young age and to his passion for the vineyards and for the wine production handed down from his father, the farm plays an important role in the Italian market and obtains excellent results ranking its wines in a medium-high segment of market.
The Tenute Mokarta take down homonymous land’s name that is located in the sunny farmland of Salemi, more fertile territory that is favourable to the production of excellent vineyards.
Here the farm, that is immersed in an outward calm, selects the best shots with manual technology and it shows a natural bent for production of ever-excellent grapes. All work is carried out with care and professional seriousness.
The grapes are incomparable in his genre with right alcohol content, good complete acidity, and especially an ability to characterize wines with most personal load of good agreeable aroma and tastiness. Among the autochthonous vineyards that are produced by the farm the inzolia is noteworthy from which a wine is gotten by the pale yellow colour, bright, with gilded nuance, notable consistence and with an inviting and intense bouquet. Its appetizing flavour contains many tastes that remember the apple, the peach, exotic fruits and vanilla; to the first taste wine expresses all of its solidity winding the palate with velvety, vigorous and warm perceptions that satisfy the mouth of the fortunate taster. Another variety of grape that characterized the territory in the grillo, grape that since the times of the Phoenician has constituted the great “genetic” patrimony of the wine-growing that characterizes the territory of Marsala and Salemi. Among the red wines that are produced, Nero d’avola is noteworthy, wine from the red ruby colour with puple/garnet-red graduated shading that takes down the homonym wine’s name. To the sense of smell it profumes of fruit with signs of raspberries and it gives a winding and soft taste.
The wines produced in this earth strip, sets to 450 meters on the level of the sea, have besides a gradation than at least 13 degrees centigrade thanks to a high sugary degree.
The difficult jobs of pruning and vintage are manually effected still, under the guide of skilled experts, to guarantee a good choices of the best grapes.
